“100 YELLOWSTONE” (2016)

.

The “100 Yellowstone” series represents parts of my dreams and imaginations about the National Parks, their beauty, fragility, and uniqueness. Celebrating 100 years of the birthday of the first US National Park, Yellowstone. My vision and wildlife observations are intimately linked to Yellowstone’s greatest secret: the sleeping world’s largest volcano.

The photographs were taken during several of our summer trips to Yellowstone National Park, locating in the Northwest corner of Wyoming, bordered by Montana and Idaho. After our first visit and exploration, we many times returned to the endless forests defended by towering mountains, home to America’s great bison herds, elks, and the endangered trumpeter Swans. It is the most extensive geothermal area on earth with thousands of boiling springs, pools, mud pots, and geysers, and the wildlife and this extraordinary wilderness are in the hands of forces more powerful than we can imagine.
