Bastrop County Audubon Society “Little Hike” at Bob Bryant Park

We had a great Bastrop County Audubon Society (BCAS) “Little hike” birding activity on June 13, 2025 morning! About 12 birders slowly walked from Bob Bryant Park’s Purple Martin (PUMA) houses parking to the Colorado River Observation deck, then looped back to the parking. We all enjoyed the friendly get together, learned a lot from expert birders, Master Naturalists, observed interesting bird behaviors. The highlight of the day was a nearby spotted Red Shouldered Hawk, aggressively attacked by two Mockingbirds. The disturbed hawk flew to another dense tree, but there, least 8 territory protective Purple Martins attacked the surprised raptor and chased it away far from their nesting boxes. Enjoy few of my pictures taken during our BCAS event.
