Five of us looked for feeding, hiding, or flying birds on November 5, 2016 afternoon, from 3 PM to 6:30 PM, at Brazos Bend State Park TX. We met at the Nature Center then drove together to 40-Acre Lake Parking, where we set up our camera gears and tripods. After a  brief introduction and review of the elements and rules of composition, we slowly walked on 40 Acre Lake trail to the Observation tower. We did not see too many birds, those just were hiding somewhere… However, we enjoyed the outing, the friendly conversations, we were all happy there, and we got few nice images. Yes, I received 25 years of happiness! My last Photo-walk will be on December 10, 2016, for landscape, and I will start my new “Through the Lens” advanced photography program in the New Year.

Laszlo led his HCP (Houston Center for Photography) organized Birds / Wildlife Photography workshop Part Two at Houston Audubon Society Bolivar Flats / North Jetty Sanctuary in Bolivar Peninsula from 9 AM – 1 PM on October 29, 2016. The weather was great, sunny with a light breeze. We set up at the North Jetty then walked together on the paved area then slowly on the large rocks to the reeds, where the shorebirds gathered. We spread out there and all of us found a got flat rock for the tripods. After my refreshing discussion about light, proper tripod use, and bird behavior we started to photograph nature’s beauty from our hearts. I appreciated my participants’ enthusiasm and we talked about different camera settings. The schooling of a large flock of American Avocets, the elegant movements of Black Necked Stilts, the fishing skimmers, and the running dancing Reddish Egret made our day. We all had a good time there. The Part Three, discussion and critique meeting will be on November 7 from 6 PM – 9 PM at HCP.

Laszlo and Lexi presented their new Portfolios (Laszlo: “Magic of Dawn”, Lexi: “100 Yellowstone”) to the Houston Photographic Society Members on October 11, 2016, and to the Reviewers on October 13, 2016.

The Houston Photographic Society’s Portfolio Challenge Exhibition event for the Houston Photographic Society members and their friends and relatives was at the Tracy G Community Center on October 11, 2016, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. The second part of the Portfolio Challenge, the One on One critique and discussion sessions in 15 minutes segments, on October 13, 2016, from 6:30 PM to 8:45 PM.
