Hello Lazlo and thanks for sharing your work with us.

My first impression is positive about your images. It is a very interesting and mainly original set of landscape and nature photos in which nature is transformed into something beyond the real and acquires an almost dreamy and metaphysical dimension. On a technical and aesthetic level, you have done a very good job in all the images. The composition οf the images is excellent. The lighting is perfect and together with the monochrome approach you give to the already dramatic landscape a more dreamy aura. In these images, the black and white approach is not just an aesthetic choice but it has substance and completely changes the sense of the images than if you had created them with colour. In this competition, this is what we are looking to find. How an aesthetic choice is used to give a different feeling and substance to a photo and to do this the choice must be made consciously something that seems to apply to your images. Unfortunately, photographers rarely know why they use the black and white or colour approach, they rarely make an informed choice with an idea in mind that they want to apply. I’m glad that does not happen here.

My general feeling is that your images reveal a photographer with the ability to create images with the highest criteria and who has formed a personal visual language. Your images share many common features and could be part of the same project. What I want to advise you is to go in this direction. That is, to create a project and to present these photos as a whole. You have now submitted these images as single images in the corresponding category. This means that the judges will see and evaluate each of your photos separately from the others and outside their common context. But if in the future with the addition of some more images you’ll present them as a series of photos, then you will be allowed to show your visual language, your idea and your ability to create stories with images, in a more effective way. Your work will be able to stand out more easily than a single image can stand out in an ocean of thousands of good images that will need to be evaluated by the judges. I think you have both the material and the skills to create something special. That is how you will be able to expand your visual metaphors further and make your message more visible to the viewers.

Dear Lazlo, keep up the good work and I will be glad to see more of you in the future. You are a good photographer with the potential for more.

Βest Regards

Laszlo’s in Progress New Works on “Big Old Live Oaks”

The several hundreds of years old Live Oak (Quercus Virginiana) trees are not just magnificent natural wonders, but strong supporters of our clean air. We are so happy to see them striving in their established location. With its lustrous, dark, semi-evergreen leaves and gracefully spreading branches, the live oak is beautiful. The live oak is a tough, strong, decay-resistant species that has an exceptionally long life expectancy as a result. Our good friend, forester Daniel Lewis, showed us a few old giants nearby, and I started to visit those trees, watched them, and built a friendship with them before I tried to photograph them with my large format film camera. Enjoy a few of my images.
